Half of the world’s population still can’t get online. For the other half, the web’s benefits seem to come with far too many risks: to our privacy, our democracy, our health and our security.

The Contract for the Web is a global effort to bring governments, companies, civil society and web users together to build a roadmap for how we build a web that serves humanity and is a public good for everyone, everywhere.  "La Carta dei Diritti di Internet" is a national declaration issued by the Italian Committee on the Rights and Duties Related to the Internet” on July 28th 2015.

In this session at IGF Italy 2019, panel discussants will share their call of actions aligning the Contract with the Italian Internet Bill of Rights.  Both initiatives converge on the quest for a web that safeguards human rights.

The World Wide Web Foundation was invited to host a session at the upcoming IGF Italy from 29-31 October 2019, in Torino.  Web Foundation’s representative will be Emily Sharpe, Director of Policy; attendance is confirmed for Day 0.

Emily Sharpe acts as keynote and moderator, introducing the topic for around 15-20min.

Panel discussion is set for another 40-55min.
